This quirky "upside down" two storey cottage was half of the old grain storage barn and is named after the owls, that now often roost and breed in a nearby open barn on our farm. It is cosy enough for couples, whilst offering plenty of space for families. The entrance is up several steps to a stable door opening into the large living room and kitchen. See 3D living room tour. This room takes full advantage of the countryside views over the gardens towards the Camel estuary in one direction and towards St Beock Downs in the other. Having windows on three sides and a high ceiling, it is light and airy. The kitchen is fitted with solid ash cupboards, black slate effect worktop and attractive textured tiling. The kitchen is well equipped with a ceramic hob electric cooker with separate grill, microwave and fridge/freezer, and all the things you may need down to items such as a cafetiere and garlic press.
A solid Ercol table and chair set, beneath a feature 5 pendant iron light provides space and comfort for dining for four, with a matching Ercol dresser which stores a variety of board games and jigsaws suitable for all ages. The sitting room area is arranged around an attractive log burning stove with glass panelled doors. As well as being a character feature, this provides additional comfort of an evening. Two stunning leather reclining Stressless sofas are arranged around this and the flat screen LED television with Google TV for streaming.
Steps from the sitting room lead to the two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with full size bunk beds, which are downstairs. See 3D bedroom tour. The double bed has a sumptious Sealy Windermere posturepedic mattress providing deep down support. The same mattresses are used in the Savoy in London.
The bedrooms have views over the gardens and are not directly overlooked. The bathroom, also downstairs, has a bath with quality Mira thermostatic shower over, a vanity light with shaver socket adapter and a heated radiator towel rail. It is tiled with Laura Ashley tiles. See 3D bathroom tour.
Outside there is a totally enclosed and gated patio garden area for the exclusive use of Owls Roost. The patio garden is floored with genuine Camel valley flagstone slate, with a herbaceous border.
