A Dog-Friendly Welcome at Trevorrick Farm
At Trevorrick Farm, we’re happy to accept well-behaved dogs that suit our tranquil farm environment in Old Round House, Badgers Way and Owls Roost. Our aim is to provide a great holiday base, while maintaining the safety and well-being of all our guests and resident animals, so we ask that you enquire before making a booking with a dog so we can ensure suitability to both the cottage and the farm.
Cornwall is a paradise for dog lovers! From its dog-welcoming pubs and restaurants to its stunning coastal walks and sandy beaches, it’s the perfect destination for a holiday with your four-legged friend. Padstow, just a stunning 45 minute walk from Trevorrick Farm, is exceptionally dog-friendly, as are most attractions and beaches in the area. While some beaches have daytime restrictions during the summer, there are still plenty of places where your dog can run and play to their heart’s content. And we a dog friendly eating place, The Pickwick Inn just 500 yards along the lane. There is also a new dog exercising paddock just afew miles away. – https://padstowpoochpaddock.co.uk/
Staying with your Dog
We are happy to accept your dog in certain Trevorrick Farm cottages and understand that for many guests a holiday wouldn’t feel complete without their four-legged family member. That said, Trevorrick is a very small, working farm with free-range poultry, sheep (and their lambs), high quality cottages and sharied facilities welcoming a mix of guests of all ages. For that reason, we have a few important guidelines.
We appreciate that our approach may not suit all dog owners, and we thank you for your understanding.
Before You Book
Please enquire before booking if you wish to bring a dog.
We only accept dogs that we feel are suitable for our cottages and farm environment.Young dogs and puppies are not accepted.
Dogs are generally not accepted during school holidays, when the farm is busier and more family-focused.
For young families, the best overall farm experience may be achieved without bringing a dog, as dogs can limit access to some areas and activities both on and off the farm.
Our priority is always:
The safety and welfare of our animals, including poultry, sheep, and their lambs
The comfort and safety of guests who may not enjoy being around dogs
Protecting our cottages and furnishings from accidents or damage
Maintaining a calm, relaxing atmosphere on the farm
A Note for Families
For families with young children, the best farm experience may be not to bring a dog. Having a dog with you can limit access to certain areas and activities, and we want children to enjoy the freedom of exploring the farm without restrictions.
We cannot provide children’s toys in cottages where there is a dog, though there will be children’s books in bookcases, and board games/jigsaws in cupboards that you are welcome to use.
Our dog acceptance charter
Dogs must not be left unattended at any time, including when owners are using the pool or children’s play areas, unless the dog is securely crated in the cottage.
Overnight, dogs must be:
Crated in open-plan cottages, or
Confined to stair-gated kitchen areas, as appropriate.
Dogs are not allowed:
In children’s play areas
In the pool area
In bedrooms
On furniture
To protect our high-quality Ekornes leather sofas, guests must bring their own clean throws, which must be used at all times.
Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times on the farm.
Please note: our animals are part of our everyday farm life. Free-range poultry and sheep, particularly during lambing season, can be easily frightened or harmed by dogs, even those that are calm and well trained and used to livestock.
A Dog-Friendly Area to Explore
While the farm itself has necessary restrictions, the surrounding area is wonderfully dog friendly:
Beautiful walks directly from the farm along quiet country lanes
The Pickwick Inn – just 500 yards away, serving excellent food and very dog friendly
Padstow, which is extremely welcoming to dogs, with many dog-friendly cafés, shops, and walks
Many nearby dog-friendly beaches, perfect for coastal adventures
Padstow Pooch Paddock (padstowpoochpaddock.co.uk), just two miles away – a secure space where dogs can run freely
We genuinely want to welcome dogs to Trevorrick where it is appropriate to do so, but the welfare of our animals, the quality of our cottages, and the comfort of all guests must always come first. Please contact us before booking — we’re always happy to advise.
Thank you for helping us keep Trevorrick peaceful, safe, and enjoyable for everyone.
Walking and Exploring
While we don’t have any areas on the farm for dogs to run free or be walked due to the presence of animals and other guests, we are situated on a lovely lane where you can enjoy peaceful walks together, including accessing the footpath to the Camel Trail and Padstow, and 500m to The Pickwick Inn!
For longer adventures, Cornwall’s beautiful beaches, rolling countryside, and charming villages are all within easy reach, offering endless opportunities to explore.
Dog Friendly Cottages
We welcome dogs in three of our cottages—Badgers Way, Old Round House, and Owls Roost —each offering a cosy retreat after a day of adventure. With woodburning stoves for ambiance in the winter months, you’ll love warming up together, relaxing and planning the next days’ big dog friendly adventure.
While the fenced gardens of these cottages are not necessarily dog-proof, and dogs will need to be supervised at all times in them, they provide a comfortable space for you to relax with your furry friend.
