There's simply no better place to get out and enjoy fresh air and incredible scenery

The area around our cottages offers some of Cornwall’s most scenic walking routes, perfect for exploring the stunning countryside and coastline no matter what your age and it can start from your cottage door. Whether it’s a peaceful stroll along the Little Petherick Creek, a stunning walk into Padstow, or a family-friendly Camel Estuary walk, or even a more challenging hike along the dramatic coastal cliffs, there’s a trail for every level and interest. Or drive a little way to find some other Cornish coastal and country scenery.

The Camel Trail and Padstow

4 Miles Away by road | or 1/2.25 Miles away by foot

A scenic, flat walking and cycling path along the Camel Estuary. On rainy days, it offers a relatively sheltered route with a firm surface, perfect for walking with rain gear. The views along the trail are stunning even in wet weather, making it a pleasant outdoor option. It’s around a mile from the cottage by foot to the Trail, 2.25 miles by foot to Padstow. Ours kids walked into Padstow from the age of only 3.

Padstow to Stepper Point Walk

4 Miles Away

A coastal walk that begins in Padstow and heads toward Stepper Point. While coastal paths can get muddy on rainy days, this well-marked trail offers dramatic views over the estuary and can be manageable in light rain with the right gear. The route takes you past scenic cliffs and headlands. In season stop at Rest O’While tea rooms half way to Stepper point. For a longer walk, walk into Padstow and start the walk from there. Walk around the headland to Trevone, then cut across back to Padstow.

Prideaux Place Woodland Walks

4 Miles Away

Explore the wooded grounds of Prideaux Place, an Elizabethan manor house in Padstow. The woodland paths are ideal for rainy-day walks, offering shelter from the rain under the tree canopy. Afterwards, you can warm up with a visit to the manor’s tearoom for a cosy indoor break. Not open over the winter months.

Bedruthan Steps and Coastal Path

10 Miles Away

Though better on dry days, the dramatic Bedruthan Steps can still offer a rewarding walk in the rain for those up for a challenge. Wear appropriate footwear as paths can be slippery, but the rugged cliffs and powerful waves crashing below are awe-inspiring in stormy weather.

Lanhydrock House and Gardens

18 Miles Away

For a combination of indoor and outdoor exploration whatever the weather, visit Lanhydrock House. The extensive gardens and woodlands offer sheltered walking routes, while the grand Victorian house provides an indoor refuge with historic rooms to explore, making it a great all-weather destination.

Eden Project Rainforest Biome

18 Miles Away

The Eden Project’s vast biomes offer the ultimate all weather experience. Walk through tropical rainforests and Mediterranean landscapes.. The rainforest biome provides long indoor pathways with immersive displays of exotic plant life, making it feel like an outdoor walk, but under cover. The outside planting is amazing too.

Bodmin Jail

16 Miles Away

For an entirely indoor experience, Bodmin Jail offers an engaging tour through Cornwall’s dark history. The immersive exhibits and interactive displays make it a fascinating alternative to outdoor walks when the weather turns, providing a mix of history, mystery, and education for the whole family.

Truro Cathedral and City Walk

23 Miles Away

For a city walk under cover, head to Truro. Stroll through the town’s quaint streets, then take shelter inside Truro Cathedral, a beautiful example of Gothic Revival architecture. With cafés and indoor shops nearby, it’s a pleasant mix of outdoor city exploration and indoor comfort.
